New Delhi : The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) on Saturday wrote to Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi seeking information on the number of complaints of crime against women.
In a letter, DCW chief Swati Maliwal sought information on the number of complaints, including that of rape and molestation in the city, especially in the Anand Parbat area.
Meenkashi, 19, was killed in the area after she objected to a man who allegedly abused her.
It also asked for cases in which an FIR was registered and cases in which police protection was provided to the victims.
In addition, Maliwal wanted to know the strength of police force in Delhi and the number of women in it.
“This comes in the wake of the deteriorating law and order situation in the city,” a DCW official told IANS.
Maliwal on July 28 took charge as the head of the commission.
