Career counselling & educational awareness programme organised by AMU students in Kashmir

Srinagar: Students of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) organised an awareness programme ‘PAHEL’ an initiative for educational upliftment of underprivileged section of the society with the help of ‘SOCH – Beyond the Imagination’, a social organisation of students of AMU.

Team of students from the AMU are providing information about scholarships and career after 10th & 12th standard with detailed information of all possible academic fields, a release from the organisers said.

The programme was organised in different schools of Baramula district.

Team will also provide the information regarding entrance exams in various central universities such as AMU, BHU, JMI, JNU etc. and management of schools assured them to provide information to students concerned.

Nasrullah Majeed, a team member and graduate student from AMU started the programme by introducing the team members and outlook of the full schedule of programme. Later Dr Hamidullah Mir, a research scholar of AMU expressed the importance of central universities in the career of an individual.

It was followed by Amood Gulzar who gave details of academic and professional courses provided in various institutions (Central Universities) across India followed up by an interactive session where students’ queries were answered. Irfan Bashir, Zahid Rasool and Showkat Ahmad were also part of the team. There will be a proper follow up of the programme in different higher secondaries in coming dates. Dr Saleem Mohammad Khan of SOCH said, “This year in UPSC rank 1-4 is secured by female students. So it is high time that we should promote female students of community to opt for civil services.”

Dr Danish Suhail said that the initiative PAHEL will not be limited to Kashmir only but a pan India movement will be started to fulfil our social duty as an “Alig.”
