New Delhi : Congress leader Sajjan Kumar and two others on Tuesday told a court hearing a 1984 anti-Sikh riots case in which they are accused that they will bear the expenses of video recording of the proceedings.
Sajjan Kumar with Brahmanand Gupta and Ved Prakash are facing trial in connection with killings of Sikhs in Sultanpuri in north Delhi during the riots that erupted after the assassination of the then prime minister Indira Gandhi by two of her Sikh security guards.
The accused told District Judge Amar Nath that they are giving an undertaking that they would bear the cost of video recording of the court proceedings of the case.
The court posted the matter for January 29, 2016 for checking the working of video recording system.
The Delhi High Court on November 30 transferred a 1984 anti-Sikh riots case in which Sajjan Kumar is accused from the Karkardooma court to Patiala House court and also directed the court proceedings be videographed.
The court has framed various charges, including those of murder and rioting, against the three accused.
The Central Bureau of Investigation filed two charge sheets against Sajjan Kumar and others in January 2010 in cases registered in 2005 on the recommendation of the Justice G.T. Nanavati Commission that probed the sequence of events leading to riots.
