New Delhi: Veteran journalist and social activist Sai Prasan died at Nagpur while traveling towards Rourkela, R L Francis, president of Poor Christians Liberation Movement (PCLM) said here.
Prasan died on Sunday while on the Geetanjali Express train towards Rourkela, Francis said in a release.
Prasan had worked for various newspaper and was equally active on the social work front. “He always worked for the poorer section of the society, fought for them and highlighted their voice through his powerful writing,” the release said. He had also formed Janata Vikas Manch, a civil society forum, in 2011 and held various activities to promote civil society actions in Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
Before his death, he had organized a historical padyatra Mee Votu – Mee Satta (Your Vote, Your Government) during the April-May 2014 Lok Sabha elections encompassing all 13 districts of Andhra Pradesh.
Sai Prasannan had done exemplary reporting during the Kandhmal riots in Odisha, the release said, adding, he was partner in the PCL movement and was always supportive to the cause, Francis said.
