Terminate sanctions on day of implementing n-deal: Iran

Tehran: The international economic sanctions on Iran should be completely lifted when a nuclear agreement with the P5+1 group of world powers enters into effect, one of Tehran’s top nuclear negotiators, Abbas Araghchi, said on Wednesday.

“One of the most important let open parentheses is simultaneousness of termination of sanctions with Iran’s moves (to limit its nuclear programme),” state-run IRNA news agency quoted Araghchi as saying.

“There are ideas in that respect that can be trust-building, although a problem called simultaneousness still remains unresolved and that is a major point,” the deputy minister of foreign affairs added.

Araghchi remarked that Iran and the P5+1 group — the US, Britain, China, Russia, France plus Germany — were going to discuss the matter as in previous rounds of negotiations held in Vienna.

“How to make the procedure simultaneous is under survey now; there are proposals and ideas in the field, and I think eventually a mechanism that can be satisfactory for both sides with trust building effect will be achieved, so that when the day will come for implementing the agreement everything will have a logical process,” he said.

“We have decided to end the talks on July 1, but we will definitely not sacrifice a good and desirable agreement for keeping that date and if necessary, a few days longer, or even shorter, can be the final date of the talks, which is not the focal point of the negotiations,” the negotiator added.

Iran and the P5+1 group announced reaching a framework agreement on April 2, according to which Iran would commit to limit its nuclear programme in exchange for termination of sanctions that stifle its economy.
