Don’t sabotage Malegaon case: CPI-M

New Delhi: The CPI-M on Friday said it was “a matter of deep concern” that there were attempts to sabotage the prosecution of those involved in the 2008 Malegaon blast in Maharashtra.

“The revelation by the special public prosecutor in the 2008 Malegaon
case, Rohini Salian, that she has been pressurized by an officer of the National Investigation Agency to go soft in the case is a matter of deep concern,” the CPI-M said in a statement.

“The Malegaon case is among the chain of cases such as the Mecca
Masjid bomb blast, Samjhauta Express blast, the blast at Ajmer Sharif and the Modasa blast which are among the major terrorist attacks in the country,” the Communist Party of India-Marxist said.

“These were perpetrated by a Hindutva extremist network in which more than
100 people were killed.

“What is being revealed by Salian indicates that there is a serious
attempt to sabotage the case after the Modi government came into office.

“There should not be any interference in the legal and judicial process
concerning these cases,” the party said.
