Srinagar: Commenting over the change of guard in Jammu & Kashmir, Huriyat(G) chairman Syed Ali shah Geelani in a press statement, on Firday said that the issue in the state is not merely of governance.
“Kashmir is not the issue of good governance and providing better facilities which could be solved by the changing of government. The common minimum program on which the Mufti Sayed has agreed to work with his alliance partner is all about the administrative issues and it has nothing to do with the final resolution of the Kashmir issue,” Geelani said.
Calling the initiation of releasing political prisoners by Mufti’s government as a “political assault”, he said, “This is an assault of Mufti to degrade the National Conference but it can’t impact the severity and the status of Kashmir issue and nor can this change the political uncertain and instable situation of the state.”
According to the Hurriyat chairman, Mufti Mohammad Sayed in his recent interview has himself admitted that he is an Indian by conviction so “he can’t claim to represent the wishes and aspirations of the Kashmiri people who are struggling against the occupation of the same country from last 6 decades and have also offered precious and numerous sacrifices for their sacred cause.
He said that the fear of BJP and the bad governance of the NC have certainly benefited him but it never mean that the people have accepted him as their saviour. If he wishes he can do some developmental works in the state but being an ideological Indian, he can neither claim to represent the inner of the people of the state nor have the people given him any such mandate with regarding the Kashmir issue, Geelani added.
