India’s NCMC reviews rescue, relief operations in Nepal

New Delhi : India’s National Crisis Management Committee (NCMC) on Sunday reviewed the rescue and relief operations by various government agencies in quake-hit Nepal.

An official statement issued here said the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) was continuing rescue and relief operations in the Himalayan nation.

NDRF teams have been able to rescue 11 people — all Nepalese citizens, said the NCMC meeting chaired by cabinet secretary Ajit Seth.

Relief material was now being sent via the rail route also from Delhi Junction to Raxaul.

Senior officials of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) have been supervising the supply of relief material being sent through railways to Nepal, it said.

“So far, over 170 tonnes of relief material including tents, tarpaulins, blankets and dry ration have been dispatched,” it added.
