Kuwait: Long serving community advisor of KKMCC and K I C Dr Ghalib Al-Mashoor was re-elected as the president of the Indo-Kuwait Friendship Society (IKFS) for a second time for the 2015–2017 term.
Dr Ghalib Al-Mashoor, founding chairman of IKFS, who served as president since inception, will have as his first vice president Advocate Sayid Mohamed Nizar will be the first vice president while A K S Abdul Nazar was re-elected as the general secretary of the IKFS at the elections of office-bearers held at the Play Club pavilion in Salmiya last Friday, a release from IKFS said here.
Engineer Sayid Fadal Nizar and Sayed Zoheb were given life member status for their services to the association over the many years. K Natarajan, Azizu Rahman and Pradeep Rajkumar were elected as 1st, 2nd and 3rd secretary respectively while Chartered Accountant Ifthekhar Ahmad also was re-elected as treasurer.
“My immediate goal is to tap friendship and convince Kuwaiti brothers to treat our fellow Indians with dignity and with improved relationship. IKFS will request Indian Embassy in Kuwait to arrange various cultural exchange programmes between India and Kuwait. At the same time, Indian Minister of Overseas will also be requested to arrange semi-annual meetings with the Kuwaiti counter parts on a friendly basis as well as on a humanitarian missions,” Dr Al-Mashoor said in his acceptance speech.
He praised H H Shaikh Sabah Ahamed Al-Sabah, the Amir of Kuwait and Shaikh H H Shaikh Nawaf Al-Sabah, Crown Prince of Kuwait for hosting and taking care of more than 7,50,000 Indians in Kuwait, while Indians are known as a favorite nationality among Kuwaities.
There are 40 working committee members in addition to about 25 known personalities as patrons who are scattered around the world for IKFS, the release said.
The IKFS is a non-profit NRI Indian friendship association in Kuwait while its activities mainly include various awareness and educational programs, art and cultural events, humanitarian services, sports and tour programs focusing mainly on the expatriate Indian population and Kuwaiti citizens in Kuwait.
