Mumbai: A special MCOCA court today sentenced seven convicts including Zabiuddin Ansari alias Abu Jundal to life imprisonment, two to 14 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) and three to eight years RI in a decade old Aurangabad arms haul case.
On Thursday special judge Shrikant Anekar convicted twelve accused and acquitted eight others, the sentencing for which was announced today at a court established inside Mumbai central Prison.
In addition with the punishment, the court also slapped convicts with fine ranging between Rs 20,000 to 25,000.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the sentencing, defence lawyer Shahid Ansari told TwoCircles.net, “We will challenge it in high court”. He also said that they were expecting lesser punishment because main mastermind of the offence as alleged by ATS was still absconding and these accused were mere foot soldiers.
