Ahmedabad : After much dilly-dallying, the Bharatiya Janata Party will finally get to elect its Gujarat unit president on February 19.
The party election will be held in the presence of senior leaders, including Chief Minister Anandiben Patel, central observer Arjun Meghwal and Gujarat affairs incharge Dinesh Sharma.
An official release said the whole exercise will be concluded in one and a half hours.
Filing of nominations will be held between 11 a.m. and 12 noon whereas scrutiny will be over by 12.30 p.m.
Party sources said the election will be a mere formality and there are dim chances of filing of a second nomination.
The names doing the rounds for the post are Bhupendrasinh Chudasama and cabinet minister Vijay Rupani from Rajkot. The name of Pradipsinh Jadeja, a known protege of Amit Shah, is also in contention.
The party was to name the replacement for Gujarat BJP chief R.C. Faldu on January 20 but could not arrive at a decision due to differences between factions owing allegiance to national BJP president Amit Shah and Anandiben Patel.
