Hisar sizzles at 44 degrees, heat wave revives in Haryana, Punjab

Chandigarh : Haryana’s Hisar town at 44 degrees Celsius was the hottest place in the northern region on Friday as blistering heat conditions revived in the state and neighbouring Punjab.

Most places in both states recorded maximum temperatures of over 40 degrees Celsius.

On May 21, Hisar recorded its highest temperature of the season at 47.8 degrees.

Narnaul town recorded a maximum of 42 degrees, while Ambala and Karnal recorded 41.4 and 41.8 degrees Celsius respectively.

Chandigarh, the joint capital of both Haryana and Punjab, recorded a high of 40.6 degrees.

In Punjab, the holy city of Amritsar and industrial city Ludhiana recorded 42.3 and 42.9 degrees Celsius, while Patiala saw a high of 41.8 degrees.

Meteorological department officials said the heat wave will continue and the weather will largely remain dry over the next three days.
