Mohammed Rasool Qadri has been born and brought up in Bangalore. “ My family has been here since the past 100 years. We have been living here since the time of Maharaja Wadiyar, the Maharaja of Mysore. The Diwan himself has built this entire market of Chikpet.”
“It has been 70 years now since this shop has been here. My grandfather, my father, and now myself, all have been here. Since 1989 I have been taking care of the business. Today is an off day for my workers so they are not here, so I am taking care of the work.”
He lives in Bangalore with his family, his parents wife and kids. he owns a family business in Chikpet, they deal with waste paper and recycle this into a usable form.
“I have been fasting since I was 7 years old. For as long as I remember we have been observing Ramzaan. All my family is here. We have a big family of 18 members. Since I was a child, we all have been together. Even today during Ramzaan every Sunday all family members go to my sisters place, to celebrate. I really want to go to Mecca with my family, but right now we do not have the sufficient funds for that purpose. Inshallah! We will go there someday.”
