Bhopal : A 49-year-old man suspected to be an ISI agent was arrested on Tuesday night. Secret documents related with the Army affairs have apart from maps and photographs of vital installations been recovered from the possession of the accused.
The accused was produced in court on Wednesday and has been remanded to police custody for next couple of days. A thorough interrogation.during the remand period would reveal information about his links and the agency he was working for.
Senior military and Intelligence Bureau (IB) officers have interrogated the arrested man. He has been booked under the Official Secrets Act.
According to Additional Superintendent of Police, (ASP), Deepak Verma from the past few days, activities of one suspected man was being reported near the military base 3 EME Center in Bairagarh, on the outskirts of Bhopal. A police team was assigned the responsibilities to find the suspect.
On Tuesday night police received information that the suspect has been spotted near a culvert at 3 EME Center in Bairagarh.
The police nabbed the suspect from the spot.
The man on being interrogated revealed his identity as Mohammad Naeem, son of late Abdul Ghafoor, a resident of Jhansi town in Uttar Pradesh. The man is said to be a fourth grade employee of Indian Railways.
The cops seized secret documents including vital information regarding army forces and maps of army units apart from CDs from his bag.
The ASP informed that the accused used to send secret information about military outside the country, with the help of his aide based in Delhi.
While, the seized documents are stated as a threat to integrity of the nation, role of 3 EME Center employees has not been denied in leaking the vital information. The probe was on to ascertain the nexus of the arrested man with national and international entities in leaking important military documents. ([email protected])
