Kozhikode : The National Democratic Front (NDF), a Muslim outfit in Kerala, Thursday dismissed as baseless allegations levelled by state Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan that the NDF carried out over 100 attacks in the state during the last one year.
Balakrishnan, who belongs to the ruling Communist Party of India-Marxist, told reporters at Thiruvananthapuram Wednesday after a meeting of top state police officials that the NDF carried out 101 attacks in the state in the past one year.
“The statement by the minister is wrong and baseless,” V.P. Nazaruddin Elamaram, state executive member of the NDF, told reporters here. He accused the minister of suppressing political opponents by using police force.
The NDF countered the minister by asking him to disclose the number of cases registered against the CPI-M in the last one year.
Nazaruddin said the NDF is not averse to entering electoral politics in the state. “We are holding debate on the issue and a decision could be announced next year,” he added.
