Carrying Tibetan flags and shouting anti-China slogans, the activists tried to break the security cordon thrown around the Taj Mahal Hotel at the Mansingh Road around 5.30 p.m., police officials said.

They were immediately stopped by a large posse of policemen and were taken into preventive custody, the police said. The protesters were then whisked away to the Tughlak Road police station.

According to the police officials, the activists came in batches of two and three and wanted to lodge their protest against the Chinese “occupation of Tibet”.
