New Delhi : Indian food lovers can look forward to enjoying a sinful combination of chocolate and exquisite tea with the coming together of a tea producer and a speciality restaurant in the national capital.
Choko La, a restaurant that specialises in chocolate based food, and Darjeeling’s Avongrove tea estate have teamed up to give chocolate and tea lovers a one stop shop to enjoy the experience of the two different entities.
“We believe that chocolate and tea bring out hidden passion among people and nothing can beat the feeling of bringing these two passions together,” Avongrove tea estate owner Anand Kanoria said at a press conference here Wednesday.
“The art of tea tasting is much like tasting fine wine and the experience of chocolate only goes further to enhance the experience,” he added.
Karan Singh, CEO of Choko La, said: “Like exotic chocolates, Darjeeling tea is considered a luxury item. We offer this rare experience to mesmerise your senses.
“Each tea will be served with special infused chocolates that go well with the tea flavours. The infusions for theses specially created chocolates are pine, vanilla and mint. Apart from serving it, we will be selling the tea tins also.”
A 100 gm tea tin is priced between Rs.350-600 depending on its quality.
The various tea flavours available are second flush muscatel, euphoria, white tea, silver blossom, mint and vanilla fragranced tea pearls, pine scented tea pyramids, peony rosette and florette.
Ravi Kidwai, a tea taster for over 35 years, believes India has moved beyond the roadside ‘Cutting Chai’ practice and tea drinking has evolving into a wonderful experience like having wine, cheese and coffee.
“People have started taking interest in tea tasting. Many tea lovers are taking this whole business of tea tasting very seriously,” Kidwai told IANS.
“Apart from this, tea also has anti-oxidants and is definitely a healthy option over soft drinks. People are realising this fact and as a result we are seeing a rise in tea sales,” he added.
