Kolkata : Former West Bengal chief minister and veteran Marxist Jyoti Basu, recovering from a head injury, was discharged from hospital Tuesday evening, officials said.
“Basu has been released at 5.10 p.m. His health condition is stable,” said AMRI Hospitals vice president S. Upadhyay.
A team of doctors including a neurologist, a cardiologist and a geriatrician will regularly supervise and monitor Basu’s health at his residence.
The 94-year-old leader suffered “internal haemorrhage in the head” after he fell in the bathroom of his Salt Lake home Sep 5.
He underwent a CT scan a day later and was advised hospitalisation. He also received stitches on his forehead. A second CT scan was done on him earlier last week.
Basu was West Bengal’s chief minister from 1977 to 2000.
