Abu Dhabi : Tourism authorities in the emirate of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will start profiling visitors to get an insight into the variety of factors that drive tourism here.
The Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) will launch a year-long campaign next month in which over 5,000 visitors to Abu Dhabi will be interviewed by a professional research company commissioned to carry out the survey, the state-run Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.
The survey will cover a range of issues including spending patterns, length of stay, accommodation preferences and activities undertaken.
Initial results from the survey are expected in the first quarter of next year.
Visitors will be asked to answer questions at various entry points to the emirate including the Abu Dhabi International Airport.
“We are now moving to a new level in the development of Abu Dhabi’s tourism industry at a time when globally the sector is undergoing intense dynamism,” said Mubarak Al Muhairi, director general of ADTA.
“Increasing sophistication within the international market place and particularly within our target high-end segment requires an increasingly sophisticated response for client fulfilment,” he added.
Abu Dhabi is investing around $136 billion in developing business and tourism assets and plans to increase visitor numbers to three million by 2015 with over 25,000 hotel rooms.
