Blasts politically motivated: Aligarh intellectuals

Aligarh: A panel discussion on ‘Serial Bomb Blasts and Politics of Terrorism’ was organized by the Intellectual Forum for Secularism, Democracy & Social Justice (IFSDSJ) and Millet Bedari Muhim Committee (MBMC) in Aligarh on September 20.

Presiding over the programme, Pramod Kumar, industrialist and Lohiite socialist, expressed his serious concern over the worst phase of crisis created by the BJP and the communal forces for changing the secular state into a communal state.

He also opposed any act like POTA and condemned the Sangh Parivar for their policies against the Muslims. He also urged the Muslims to start a massive contact programme to reach out to every Muslims to consciously use their votes in the larger interests of the country.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Arshi Khan, Reader, Department of Political Science, AMU, presented a thematic presentation on the topic of the bomb blasts and the politics behind it. He gave a lot of data along with his political analysis to find out the major forces which are determined to cash on the deaths of the innocent victims of the blasts. He openly accused the Sangh Parivar for the politics of terrorism. He suggested for a judicial inquiry of the terrorist cases.

Prof. Shamim Ahmad, National President of the IFSDSJ, accused Narender Modi for terrorism in the country. He suggested for the establishment of the Genocide Commission and National Commission for the Investigation of Bomb Blasts Cases and Terrorism. He demanded SIMI-type ban on Sangh outfits like RSS, Bajrang Dal, VHP and others. He was of the view that the blasts are politically motivated designs for electoral gains as the national election is approaching. He called for the consolidation of secular forces to defeat communal forces.

Satish Kulshreshtra, Bureau Chief, DLA, Aligarh, found the cases of recent terrorism very much politically motivated by some political groups. To him, the BJP is searching for the issues but lamented on the fact that good people are highly divided.

Dr. M. Shahid, former secretary, AMUTA, lamented on the role of the Congress for discriminating against the Muslims in the country.

Shri Mohibul Haque, member, Amnesty International, demanded comprehensive debate on terrorism in Parliament.

Jasim Mohammad, President, Millet Bedari Muhim Committee (MBMC) Aligarh, spoke in favour of secularism for which we should help the Congress in the coming elections. The panel discussion was attended by eminent citizens across the sections of the society. The forum also decided to hold a national seminar in the near future.
