Kolkata : West Bengal’s ruling Left Front major partner Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) Friday launched a stinging attack on the opposition and urged people to identify the unholy alliances bent on scuttling the state’s industrial and agricultural developments.
On a day when Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee conceded that he saw “no hopes” of the Tata Motors small car Nano rolling out of Singur, CPI-M state secretary Biman Bose said not only Singur but the entire state would be adversely affected if the Tatas moved out of West Bengal.
“Not only the people of Singur, but also the denizens elsewhere in the state want successful implementation of the project. But the opposition never responded to the state government’s efforts to solve the problems related to the project through discussions,” Bose said.
“The unholy alliances which are obstructing the industrialisation efforts in the state directly or indirectly, or acting as agent provocateurs, do not want the state’s development. The peasants, workers and the other common people should ponder over the actual objectives of these forces,” Biman Bose said.
“There is need to identify those powers trying to scuttle the state’s industrialisation and agricultural efforts and build up a mass agitation against them,” Bose said.
He, however, stressed the need not to fall prey to the provocative acts of the “forces of anarchy”.
