Baghdad : At least nine Iraqis, including six policemen, were wounded on Sunday in separate gunfire attacks in this capital, where a car bomb detonated at a popular market killed 13 on Saturday.
Police sources reported that three policemen and two civilians were injured after an explosion in the neighborhood of Zayouna, in eastern Baghdad, the second attack seen today.
The explosion, which damaged the police car, was preceded by a very similar one in the al-Qahira neighborhood, close to the Judicial Institute, in the northeast zone of the capital that left three policemen and one civilian wounded.
The civilian passed by the placed where the attack happened, said the source, and added that authorities are looking for possible suspects.
The two attacks happened less than 24 hours after car bomb killed 13 people, including women and children, and left 27 wounded in the Abu Dshir market, a Shiite known place situated in southern Baghdad.
According to police reports the explosion destroyed commercial stores and some vehicles burned up, in a zone known for being held by insurgents.
Last Friday, one person died and other 12 were wounded when a bomb exploded near a bus in central Baghdad, where the day before an assassination attempt to legislator Saleh al-Ogaili took place in the same suburb.
According to numbers given by the Iraq Body Count organization, more than 47 thousand civilian have died in Baghdad since the US invasion in March of 2003.
