“He is stable and is being continuously monitored,” D.K. Sharma, AIIMS medical superintendent, told IANS.

He said the minister has not gained “full consciousness”.

Dasmunsi, 63, was rushed to the hospital at around 2.30 a.m. Monday after he complained of breathlessness due to lung congestion caused by heart failure. He was put on a ventilator.

“His condition has improved from Monday and he doesn’t require any kind of life support,” Sharma said. His vital parameters like heart beat, blood pressure and respiration, are being maintained.

The senior Congress leader has a 10-year history of diabetes.

Dasmunsi, also head of the West Bengal Congress Committee, was admitted to the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) in AIIMS.

He had earlier suffered a heart attack July 8. “He had undergone an angioplasty and stenting of two coronary arteries,” Sharma said.
