Karachi, Oct 27 (IANS) Geoff Lawson is planning to write a book on his experiences as Pakistan coach.

Lawson was sacked as national coach by Ijaz Butt, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, over poor results.

According to the sources, the Australian will begin working on the book soon after returning to hometown Sydney.

Lawson led Pakistan to the final of the ICC World Twenty20 in South Africa last September soon after taking over the national team coach. But he shared an uneasy relationship with PCB officials, national selectors and the local media. Under him Pakistan lost back-to-back Test and ODI series against South Africa and India.

Off the field, however, Lawson will have a lot to write about in his book as his stint as Pakistan coach was a happening one.

Just weeks after taking over the job, Lawson was involved in a probe against controversial pacer Shoaib Akhtar, who was accused of hitting fellow fast bowler Mohammad Asif with a cricket bat following a training session in South Africa just days before Pakistan’s opening game of the World Twenty20 Championships. Shoaib was later banned by the PCB.
