Patna: While the Maharashtra police has almost caught the culprits behind the September 29 Malegaon blast in which six people were killed, the Gujarat Police is yet to get a lead in Modasa blast occurred on the same day in similar style. The Modasa blast claimed life of a 15-year-old boy.

The Sabarkantha police that is investigating the Modasa blast summoned some active members of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), BJP’s student wing to take their statements.

Confirming this K K Mysorewala, DSP, Sabarkantha pointed out that out of 500 people summoned for their statements 200 are associated with Hindutva organizations like RSS, ABVP, VHP and Bajrang Dal in Modasa. But it has got no lead.

The Mumbai ATS and its forensic experts managed to decipher and locate the chassis number of the bike used in Malegaon blast to its owner, Sadhwi Pragya. She was consequently arrested.

The Modasa blast was also carried out in the same way but the local police are yet to find a lead in the investigation. The police are looking for a witness who might have seen the culprits parking the bomb-laden bike.

The blasts in the two districts were carried out days before the Eid and in Muslim dominated areas. Naturally the victims are Muslims in the two blasts.

Mumbai police said it has solved both Malegaon and Modasa bomb blasts but surprisingly the team probing Modasa blast hasn’t yet contacted Mumbai police.

Meanwhile Madhusudhan Mistry, Congress MP of Sabarkantha, has alleged that the Gujarat police have been completely inactive for cracking the Modasa blast case and bringing the culprits to the book.

He pointed out that he had forwarded names of three suspects in the blast to the Sabarkantha police but they remained completely indifferent.

Questioning the credibility of police when it comes to the Hindutva terror he said: why this inaction by the police in arresting the accused in the Modasa case when the police showed an exemplary quickness in arresting the accused in the Ahmadabad blasts.

In another incident the Gandhinagar police have arrested Ashwin Patel, general secretary of VHP’s Ahmadabad unit, on the charges of inflaming communal passions, sedition and defamation.

According to the state police since last few weeks SMSes, defamatory against the Narendra Modi and his government, were being sent across the state. There were also lots of messages about the Ahmadabad and Modasa blasts and the inflammatory language of these SMSes could have provoked communal tension.

When the police investigated the case, they found it was the handiwork of Ashwin Patel.
