The deadliest ever blasts in the state rocked Guwahati, Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon and Barpeta killing around sixty on the spot while wounding hundreds.

Of those arrested one is Rabijit Baruah, who is said to have been associated with the banned United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA). He is from Nalbari district.

While an unknown group ISF-IM has claimed responsibility for the blasts the police think the blasts could be the joint venture of ULFA and Harkatul Jihade Islami (HuJI).

Guwahati-based journalist Diganta Sharma said the police have arrested three persons from Nagaon today because their car was allegedly used in the blasts at Ganeshguri. They are Julfikar Ali, Amrul Haque, Arif Mohmad alias Anthoni.

The police have detained several people for interrogation.

Nazimuddin from Marigaon was picked because somebody had sent massage from his mobile taking responsibility for the blasts. But he has told the police that some miscreant sent the massage by hacking his mobile.

Besides, Trikendrajit Saikia and his wife Jonali saikia have been held by the police for questioning for their suspected role in the blast at the D C court in Guwahati on Thrusday.

The SMS from ISF-IM accepting responsibility for the serial blasts has forced the investigative agencies to look in to the possibility of ISF being the new face of Indian Mujahideen.

Diganta Sharma also informed that the death toll in the Assam serial blasts has reached 90. There are many charred bodies which remain unidentified even two days after the blasts.

Of more than 300 injured the condition of 137 is reportedly very critical and the death number is feared to go up.

The situation in Assam is not as tense as it was yesterday. Today there was all of Assam bandh by BJP and supported by VHP, Bajran Dal and Hindu Jan Jagaran Manch among other rightist wings.
Because of the bandh streets and roads wore deserted look. All the transport services were closed today. People are in their homes as they are terrorized because of the blast.

All Assam Student Union (AASU) has called for state bandh on Monday.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi are in the state today. They visited the blasts sites and also met the injured in the hospitals.

Manmohan Singh told the reporters that the government is ready to take strong action against terrorism.

There has been a continuous exhibition of public unity in the aftermath of the blasts, whether it is in their anger against the blasts or against the politicians. The same kind of unity is seen in the expression of their sympathy for the blasts victim.

Hundreds of people are coming to the hospitals to donate blood for the injured.
