China President on World Tour

Beijing : Chinese President Hu Jintao started Friday a world tour that will take him to the G-20 meeting in Washington and Costa Rica, Cuba, Peru and Greece.

The statesman will participate along with other heads of State in the Group of 20 event in the US capital, focused on discussions on measures to face the current global financial crisis, originated in the United States. According to Chinese diplomatic sources, Hu will defend in plenary and bilateral meetings the need of taking effective measures to return confidence to markets.

China will insist that the international financial system should be reformed at long term.

The president will begin a second Latin American tour November 16, to Brazil, Chile, Argentina and Cuba.

The Chinese statesman will also go to Cuba, the first nation in this continent to establish diplomatic relations with the giant Asian nation in 1960.

Hu will also visit Costa Rica and Peru, to attend the Summit of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum.

On his way to Beijing, the statesman will stop over in Greece, where he will meet with the country’s top authorities.
