At least four drone aircraft Saturday fired missiles targetting the house of Taj Muhammad in Chasma village, two kilometres south of Miranshah town, in North Waziristan district, killing three people, the agency said.

There was no immediate information about the identity of the dead.

Pakistan’s tribal belt across the Afghan border is known to be a haven of Taliban insurgents and their Al Qaeda allies who use it as a base to mount attacks on Kabul government interests and foreign troops battling them.

The US-led coalition forces have launched numerous missile attacks targeting suspected terror hideouts in the area, which have resulted in a large number of civilian casualties.

Pakistan has lodged strong protests against the attacks, saying they violate the country’s sovereignty.
