Gaza : Israeli Police, security forces, and Magen David Adom (MDA) raised their alert levels in Tel Aviv on Tuesday, following a warning of a Palestinian plan to attack the city.
The Israeli Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper said roadblocks were set up in the city and at its main entrances, causing traffic jams, and that police arrested Palestinian workers in the central bus stations, accusing them of not having work permits.
The paper said Director General of the MDA (Israeli ambulance service) Eli Bin raised the emergency services’ alert level in the Tel Aviv metropolitan area “to the highest possible level following the warning.” “Recently, a source in the Al-Quds Brigades, Islamic Jihad’s military wing, threatened to resume suicide bombings in Israel,” it added.
It quoted a source from the brigades as saying, “The past few months have made the Israelis forget the suicide attacks, and if they think the fence in the Gaza Strip or in the West Bank will prevent the attacks, we promise we have ways to remind the Israelis that the attacks will return to the heart of Israel and that the killing will not only take place in the Strip.”
