Cairo : The League of Arab States has condemned here the Israeli “bloody” escalation against the Palestinians, and Israeli settlers’ attacks on holy shrines and mosques in Nablus and Ramallah in the West Bank.
Arab League Assistant Secretary-General for Palestine and the Occupied Arab Territories Affairs Mohamed Sobeih told a press conference Tuesday that “Israel’s assassination of two citizens near Yasser Arafat International Airport, southern Gaza Strip, and a former activist in the Fatah movement in Nablus shows that Israel is seeking to foment conflict and break the truce and efforts exerted in this regard.”
He stressed that what happened in Nablus and Gaza proves that “Israel does not respect any signature nor agreement” but rather imposes numerous restrictions before efforts to bring peace in the region.
He pointed out that Israel alone bears the responsibility of what’s happening on the ground in light of the commitment of the Palestinian forces and factions to maintain calm.
Meanwhile in Ramallah, the Palestinian presidency denounced the systematic Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
Presidency official Nabil Abu Redaina said in a statement that the Israeli aggression had been escalating by the soldiers and settlers against the Palestinian people in every square of Palestine.
He called on the international community to promptly intervene to halt the cycle of Israeli violence against the Palestinians.
