Kolkata : A city court Monday remanded city industrialist Ashok Todi’s brother Pradeep Todi and brother-in-law Anil Saraogi in jail custody till Dec 12 for their involvement in the businessman’s son-in-law Rizwanur Rehman’s mysterious death last year.
Pradeep Todi and Saraogi surrendered before the court here Monday.
The court rejected their bail plea and remanded them in jail custody till Dec 12. It said that Pradeep Todi and Saraogi had played a key role in abetting Rizwanur’s suicide.
Both of them were taken to the Presidency Jail at Alipore in south Kolkata.
Rizwanur, a 30-year-old graphic designer working with a multimedia firm, was found dead Sep 21 last year near the railway tracks at Kolkata’s Patipukur suburb, barely a month after marrying Ashok Todi’s daughter Priyanka.
Besides Ashok Todi, the CBI named Pradeep Todi, Saraogi, former Kolkata police deputy commissioner Ajoy Kumar, former assistant commissioner of police Sukanti Chakraborty, Sub-Inspector Krishnendu Das, and Rizwanur’s neighbour S.M. Moinuddin alias Pappu in the case for their role in provoking Rizwanur to commit suicide.
