During his daylong stay, he will meet Pakistani leadership and discuss the initiative taken by Pakistan in curbing militancy and to trace out terrorist elements, being suspected by New Delhi for links to Mumbai terrorist attacks.

Currently, the British PM is visiting Kabul and his visit to Islamabad will further take him to New Delhi, according to official sources. British Foreign Secretary David Miliband Friday spoke to his Pakistani counterpart, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, and President Asif Ali Zardari and discussed the details of the British PMs visit.

Earlier, press reports said that the visit was unscheduled and it specifically pertained to the tension between the neighbors, Pakistan and India.

It may be mentioned that Foreign Secretary Miliband was dining with President Zardari in Islamabad when the Mumbai attacks started and he has made at least three calls to Islamabad since the incident.
