New Delhi : The Delhi government has built for slum dwellers and other urban poor 9,817 houses that are now ready for allotment, a senior official said Sunday.
Manoj Parida, managing director of the Delhi State Industrial Infrastructure Development Corp (DSIIDC), said the houses had been built under the Rajiv Ratan Aawas Yojna.
United Progressive Alliance chairperson Sonia Gandhi had launched the housing scheme in September 2007.
According to Parida, the DSIIDC has built the houses that are fire and earthquake resistant and also environment friendly in the areas of Bawana, Ghoga, Narela, Baprola and Bhorgarh.
