“In a central committee meeting today (Thursday), we’ve decided to allow all the government offices to reopen in the hills from Dec 26,” GJM general secretary Roshan Giri said.

“We will continue to boycott all telephone bills, electricity bills and other government taxes till our demand for a separate Gorkhaland state is met by the government,” he said.

“The timber movement and its auction will not be allowed till our demand finds any solution,” Giri said.

The GJM, which is spearheading a movement for a separate Gorkhaland state in the Darjeeling hills, has decided to participate in the tripartite meeting Dec 29 this year in the national capital.

A 13-member team, led by Giri, would take part in the talk.

“If the union government does not facilitate us to resolve the matter, we would go into greater agitation,” Giri said.
