New Delhi : The Congress Wednesday said the party wanted to bring in youthful and dynamic leadership for a good governance in the country.
“The Congress has always been an agent of change with youthful and dynamic faces that can bring vibrancy in governance. The decisions to have young chief ministers in Maharashtra and Jammu and Kashmir show this,” the party’s spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi told reporters here.
However, on the question whether the party wanted to have Rahul Gandhi as India’s young prime minister in future, Singhvi said: “Decisions are taken by the party not with individuals in mind, but with a holistic view of party strategy to provide good governance.”
The Congress Tuesday declared to give its legislative support to the Omar Abdullah-led National Conference government in Jammu and Kashmir.
Singhvi said the Congress had spurned the offer of unconditional support from the Peoples Democratic Party of the state because the “Congress does not believe in raw power and the greed for power”.
“We rejected the PDP officer and decided to have a non-congress chief minister.”
