Abdullah alocates portfolios, retains home

Jammu : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Saturday allocated portfolios among nine of his ministers, keeping the home, planning and power departments for himself.

Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand of the Congress will look after housing and urban development, munciplaities, elections, and printing and stationery, while National Conference’s senior most minister Abdul Rahim Rather will be in charge of finance, law and parliamentary affairs.

Among the National Conference ministers, Ali Mohammad Sagar has been given the portfolios of rural development and panchyats, Mian Altaf will look after environment and forests, and Surjit Sngh Salathia will be the industries minister.

The Congress’ Peerzada Sayeed is school education minister, Sham Lal health minister, Taj Mohi-ud-Din will be in charge of public health engineering, irrigation and flood control, and Nawang Rigzin Zora is the tourism and culture minister.
