Ajay Jadeja a step away from qualifying for pro Indian golf tour

Gurgaon : Former India Test star Ajay Jadeja is a step closer to realising his dream of playing professional golf on the 2009 Aircel-PGTI tour by earning a berth in the final stage of the tour qualifier.

Jadeja, who had rounds of 79 and 74, was tied 16th at nine-over 153.

The second stage was won by Pune’s Dinesh Raghuvanshi (74, 68) at the end of round two of the 2009 Aircel-PGTI Pre Qualifying II. Raghuvanshi, the brother of the 2007-08 PGTI Order of Merit winner Mukesh Kumar, totalled two under 142 after two rounds.

Balpreet Singh Ghuman (72, 73), the round one leader, finished second with a total of one over 145. Bangladesh’s Shahid (73, 74) came in third as his overall score read three over 147.

A total of 39 players qualified from Pre Qualifying II for the Final Qualifying Stage as four players were tied at 36th when the cut was declared at 15 over 159. These 39 qualifiers will join 39 other qualifiers from Pre Qualifying I and 46 players who were exempt from the First Qualifying Stage, in the Final Qualifying Stage that will be held at the Golden Greens Golf & Country Club, Gurgaon, from Jan 13-16.
