Docu-feature on Ganguly to be screened at Eden Gardens Jan 18

Kolkata : In appreciation of Sourav Ganguly’s contribution to cricket at the national and state levels, a docu-feature on him is to be screened at the Eden Gardens here Jan 18, the day the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) will felicitate the former India captain.

“The documentary, to be shown on the giant screen at the Eden Gardens, is part of the grand felicitation the CAB has chalked out for the cricket celebrity, who announced his retirement from international cricket two months back,” CAB joint secretary Arun Mitra said.

The docu-feature, made by a city-based filmmaker, captures Ganguly’s odyssey from St. Xavier’s College to the highest echelons of the game.

The filmmaker has spoken to Ganguly’s father Chandi, Dona and elder brother Snehasish to to bring out details about the cricketer’s background and family life.

Cricketing heroes like Sachin Tendulkar, Steve Waugh and other greats also relate their experiences with the left-hander.

The CAB has decided to gift Ganguly with a gold-plated bat during the felicitation.

BCCI president Shashank Manohar, former president Sharad Pawar and the other board officials, apart from many Bengal players, past and present, women cricketers and former CAB office bearers would be invited for the function.
