Bhopal : India’s giant Public Sector Undertaking Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, (BHEL), Bhopal unit, has received an order for supply of 2×14 MW Turbine-generator sets from New Delhi-based Afghanistan company M/s. WAPCOS.
The Hydraulic design and development of Vertical Francis Turbine for net head of 76 m and speed of 300 rpm, was done by Hydro Lab Engineers. The Model Test was carried out from July 30 to August 4 in the presence of Engineers from M/s. WAPCOS and their consultant from CEA. The test proved the turbine capability to meet the guaranteed efficiency and output.
It may be pointed out here that for the first time BHEL, Bhopal is supplying Turbine Generator sets to Afghanistan.
MK Dubey, General Manager (Hdyro), and SV Pandey, General Manager (Engineering Hydro) handed over copy of “Model Test Report” to Engineers from WAPCOS and CEA in a function held in Hydro Laboratory and congratulated Hydro Lab team for the achievement. The function was attended by staff of Hydro Laboratory and other hydro departments. Customer/Consultant appreciated the Testing facilities available in Hydro Lab and praised for
completing the tests successfully.
Hydro Laboratory has conducted 134 contractual and development model tests till date on Pelton, Francis, Kaplan & Bulb type Hydro Turbine and Pump Models. Some of the major projects for which BHEL has successfully conducted model tests are: 1. Kameng HEP 4 x 150 MW, Francis type for 501 m head; 2. Indira Sagar HEP 8 x 125 MW, Francis type for 60 m head; 3. Parbati II HEP 4 x 200 MW, Pelton type for 789 m head; 4. Almatti HEP 5 x 55 MW,
Kaplan type for 26.6 m head.0 and 5. Pumps for Kalwakurthy I & III LIS 10 x 30 MW for 100 m head. ([email protected])
