Aligarh : The Centre for Distance Education, Aligarh Muslim University in
cooperation with Wipro Infotech organised a two-day workshop on e-learning to
discuss how, by following modern teaching methodology, educational excellence
can be attained in this age of information technology.
This workshop was part of the agreement
signed between the Centre and Wipro Infotech.
Addressing the concluding session of the
workshop Wednesday, AMU Vice Chancellor PK Abdul Azis appealed to the teachers
as well as students of the university to be benefited with the facilities
provided by AMU’s Centre for Distance Education and to promote e-learning in
every department.
Highlighting the salient features of the
Centre, Director of the Centre Professor Imtiyaz Hussain said the Centre has
introduced certain professional courses so that the youth may avail themselves
of job opportunities according to market needs.
He also underlined the importance of the
workshop when he said modern teaching methodology is being adopted beside the
traditional education so that the standard of education may improve.
Presiding over the inaugural session of the
workshop, former Vice Chancellor of AMU Professor M Salimuddin said it has now
become necessary for us to adopt e-learning as this is the age of knowledge
explosion.
Mr Anshul Gupta, Bangalore-based authority
of e-learning, delivered two illuminating lectures on the teaching methodology
of e-learning, highlighting the importance and utility of multimedia in
teaching methodology.
Professor Nisar Ahmad and Professor Ikram
Hussain also addressed the participants of the workshop, sharing their rich experiences
in the field of e-learning.
