Kolkata : An 11-year-old boy attacked his grandparents and an aunt with a chopper Monday to take revenge for his father’s death, a police officer said.
Subhrojyoti Ghosh’s father committed suicide in October last year for unknown reasons.
“The boy returned from school Monday afternoon and after having food, he suddenly attacked his paternal grandparents and aunt Baishakhi with a chopper,” the police officer said.
He said the three suffered multiple deep cuts and have been hospitalised. The condition of Baishakhi is critical.
“During interrogation, Ghosh said all the three were responsible for his father’s death. He wanted to take revenge,” he added.
Ghosh’s mother, who was not in their house at Chetla area in south Kolkata when the incident occurred, refused to interact with the media.
