Armed robbers loot cash, gold of Rs.15 mn in Delhi

New Delhi : Four armed bandits Thursday evening robbed a shop in northwest Delhi, taking away Rs.220,000 in cash and 11 kg of gold worth Rs.15 million after overpowering the guard and three employees, the police said.

The heist took place at the office of Munna Group of Company, which provides loans against gold, in Shalimar Bagh area around 5.45 p.m.

The police said one of the robbers first entered the company office and introduced himself as a client.

“An employee of the company said that the man left the office looking for drinking water but returned five minutes later with his three accomplices,” said a police officer.

“The accused first overpowered the guard and snatched his gun. They then pointed their guns at the three employees and took the keys of the locker. The employees said the robbers fled after taking Rs.220,00 cash and 11 kg of gold,” the officer added.

The police said the accused also damaged the guard’s gun.

A case has been registered at the Shalimar Bagh police station and police have fanned out teams in bordering areas to nab the robbers.
