The party’s national council ratified the move to implement the September powersharing accord signed by Mugabe and MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai.

The national council had voted “to restate its commitment to the Global Political Agreement and commit to be part of the inclusive government,” Tsvangirai told reporters.

Under the accord, Mugabe remains president and Tsvangirai becomes prime minister of a unity government of 31 ministries. Tsvangirai is expected to be sworn in by Feb 11.
