Munich : US special envoy Richard Holbrooke will arrive in Pakistan on a two-day visit Monday, Geo TV reported. He will hold separate meetings with President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and other top officials, the report said.
Earlier on Sunday, the US special envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan said at a global security conference in Germany that “the situation in Afghanistan is far tougher than Vietnam’s war”.
“I have never seen anything like the mess we have inherited,” Holbrooke said.
“It is like no other problem we have confronted, and in my view it’s going to be much tougher than Vietnam.
“I will work with General Petraeus (commander of the US Central Command) to overcome the problem of corruption in Afghanistan,” he added.
