The Muslim Forum for Telangana organized a march for separate state of Telangana in Hyderabad on 14th February. The march, the organizer said, was to expose the claim of state political leadership that Muslims are not supporting the demand for the separate state.
“Today by conducting this gathering and march at historical place of Charminar, Muslim activists from different walks of life with other non-Muslims have given a slap on the faces of anti-Telangana forces,” says a Muslim Forum for Telangana.
“Anti Telangana forces are conspiring and creating differences among the different sections of the society. Muslim Forum for Telangana wants to clarify that Separate Telangana is not a new concept, it had already existed in the name of Hyderabad state till 1956, both the communities, Hindus and Muslims lived together with peace and harmony, enjoyed equality. It was the Golden period of Telangana people,” says a statement from the organizer.
“We would like to remind that when the Andhra state was formed, it was said that whenever the people of Telangana want to separate, they could separate from Andhra and form Telangana state.”
The march was taken out near historic Charminar in the capital of Andhra Pradesh.
During the 1969 movement, all the activities for separate Telangana were carried out in and around Charminar. Today the same Charminar is out of every activity. Now this Forum brings back separate Telangana movement to its original place i.e. Charminar by taking out March for Telangana, Muslim Forum for Telangana said.
