Chavez gets green light for unlimited re-election

Caracas : Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez won a referendum Sunday allowing him to seek an unlimited number of terms in office once his current mandate ends in 2013.

The proposal for a constitutional referendum to allow the unlimited re-election of the president passed with 54 percent of the votes, with 46 percent of the votes against, according to the first official report issued late Sunday by the country’s electoral authorities.
