Islamabad : Thousands of mourners took out procession in the Pakistani capital on Sunday to mark ‘chelum’ 40th of the anniversary martyrdom of Hazrat Hussain Ibn Ali (AS), the third Imam of Prophet Mohammad’s (SAWA) Infallible Household.
The mourners were beating chests and paying homage to Hazrat Imam ibn Ali (AS) and his companions in the deserts of Karbala, for their supreme sacrifices against the tyranny.
The procession Imambargah was taken out from the central Imambargha under tight security and concluded peacefully at the same place.
Meanwhile, Chelum will be observed across Pakistan on Monday with religious respect and reverence as security will be kept on high alert to avoid any unpleasant incident, officials said.
The Chelum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) is observed on 20th of Safara ul Muzaffar, second month of the Islamic Calendar.
In main cities, alternate routes have been identified to ensure smooth flow of traffic and to facilitate the mourners.
Processions are planned in major cities including Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, Rawalpindi, Peshawar and many other cities and towns.
