Kabul : Iran’s First Vice-President Parviz Davoudi said here Thursday that the two Muslim and neighboring countries of Iran and Afghanistan are interested in expansion of all-out ties.
Davoudi, heading a high-ranking politico-economic and cultural delegation, arrived in Kabul Thursday on an official day-long visit to hold talks with senior Afghan officials.
“Iran regards prosperity and development of Afghanistan as its own progress,” Davoudi said, adding that Tehran and Kabul enjoyed deep-rooted cultural, historical and religious commonalties.
He stated that Iran has made great efforts for reconstruction of the war-torn Afghanistan.
The Islamic Republic is carrying out several development projects in Afghanistan on transportation, electricity and roads, noted the official.
He is scheduled to meet Afghan President Hamid Karzai, heads of parliaments and his counterpart Ahmad Zia Masud later in the day.
The sides will discuss avenues for bolstering bilateral ties in economic, political and cultural fields as well as the regional cooperation and campaign against terrorism and illicit drugs.
They are also to discuss leading international developments.
