Gurgaon : The failure of a private security agency, hired by a resident welfare association, to control petty crimes in its area in this Haryana city has led to the Gurgaon police Thursday blacklisting it.
Gurgaon Police Commissioner S.S. Deswal told media here Thursday that the agency, 24-Security Guard Pvt Ltd, was blacklisted for dereliction of duty.
The blacklisted agency was providing security services in Palam Vihar area here.
Deswal said that in the Palam Vihar area, a total of 242 incidents of crime were reported between March 1 last year till February end this year.
These included 25 cases of snatchings, 83 break-ins and 53 thefts. He said that the security agency failed to provide security to the residents.
Another agency, SLV Security, has also been issued a warning for failing to maintain security. This agency is providing security for the DLF Phase II, Galleria, Sahara Mall, DT Mall and Cyber Park. About 94 incidents of crime were reported in these areas in the last one year.
Deswal said that the action against security agencies was taken to make them more accountable. He asked residents welfare associations not to hire blacklisted or unprofessional security agencies.
