LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan, the minister for chemicals and fertilisers, made the announcement here Friday. On his part, Ajeya Singh announced the merger of Jan Morcha party, formed by his father, with the LJP.

“I take this opportunity to announce the appointment of Ajeya Singh as LJP’s senior vice president. He will contest from Fatehpur constituency in Uttar Pradesh,” Paswan told reporters.

Ajeya Singh explained that he joined the LJP because it stood for the values his father preached. V.P. Singh won the 1989 Lok Sabha election from Fatehpur and retained it two years later.
